Beginning at 12pm EST on July 14th, the United States Mint brings to us the next release in the Presidential Silver Medal Series. The medal will honor the 26th President of the United States: Theodore Roosevelt.
To honor past presidents of the United States, the Presidential Silver Medal Series kicked off in 2018. Two releases came from the program that year with George Washington and John Adams gracing the obverse of each. Starting in 2019, four silver medals would be released annually, with modern Commanders-in-Chief minted in bronze at the end of their terms. All Presidential Silver Medals are one troy ounce of 99.9% fine silver, and through this program, the United States Mint aims to recognize each of our Nation’s leaders and reflect on the history of the country.
Commemorating Theodore Roosevelt's term of office as the 26th President of the United States, the obverse portrays the President’s bust along with the inscription “THEODORE ROOSEVELT.” Designer C.E. Barber created the obverse.
The reverse, designed by George T. Morgan, showcases Columbia on the left side of the design, standing with her right hand resting upon a column bearing a cinerary urn and devices symbolizing the authority of the United States. The U.S. Capitol can be seen in the background, and the inscriptions featured are “INAUGURATED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES SEP. 14, 1901,” and “SECOND TERM MARCH 4, 1905.”
With no mintage or production limits, the Presidential Silver Medal will come housed in teal and silver Original Government Packaging and will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
